In 2007, Becky began working with several members of her church, Lord of the Valley Lutheran Church in Granby, CO. Their mission was to work with several other churches on the front range of Colorado to build houses and support our mission church in Somoto, Nicaragua. That first year a team went to build houses and work on the church in the nearby village of Cauculi. A greater need was perceived by the team and a secondary mission goal was implemented the next year. Medical care in the remote villages was very difficult to obtain. A specific need for dental and eye exams was targeted. In 2008, 32 team members traveled to Somoto and part or the team built 5 adobe houses in Caucali, while the rest of the team, mostly women, traveled to 4 remote villages in the area.....(finish with stats and insert the power point presentation? Can it be converted to a google doc?) 2009 saw us returning to Nicaragua, this time with 20 team members. Several continued to work on houses in Caucali and Somoto while 14 members again returned to different villages for eye and dental exams exams. (More info from the trip .. talk about the need for caps & sunglasses and the disease) 2010's mission will depart.......... |
